Overview
For my Package Design class at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, I developed a conceptual powdered paint line inspired by the legendary designer Paul Rand. The goal was to create an eco-conscious, artist-centric brand that celebrated vibrant color while prioritizing safety and sustainability.
I designed a bold and playful color palette for the paint swatches, reflecting Rand’s signature use of vibrant, energetic hues. The packaging utilized recycled kraft materials, printed with biodegradable soy-based inks to minimize environmental impact. The powdered paint formula itself was imagined to be VOC-free, non-toxic, and water-based — ensuring safe use for artists of all ages.
Although this product remains conceptual, the project challenged me to balance creative expression, brand authenticity, and real-world sustainability practices within a cohesive packaging system.
